Java/Scala Developer Contract Dublin 6-18 Months. My client a global leader in their market is in urgent need of a talented and experienced Scala Developer to join their group on a contract basis for 6 months with view for extension to 18 months and beyond.

This is an exciting role focused on application development using some of the market leading technologies such as Scala, Big Data, Apache Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Shark, Spark etc. We use Agile methodology for all the development.

This is a development-centric role and you will be expected to deliver technical solutions by managing all phases of software development life cycle. You must be able to analyze business or technical requirements and design solutions to develop critical components of Reference Data technology stack. You must be a good team player with strong communication skills.

Successful candidates will have Strong Scala or Java development skills (Scala would be the first preference but we will consider candidates with strong Java skill set and willing to learn Scala). You will have a Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Apache Hadoop. You will have strong SQL Programming Competency (with practical experience of at least one RDBMS). Candidates will have Strong understanding of software build/ release management (with at least one build tool e.g. ANT). It will be expected that you have a Good understanding of unit testing concepts.

It would be seen as Nice to have a familiarity with RDF and SPARQL, an Understanding of Reference Data domain and Exposure to functional programming (in case you do not have Scala programming skills). If this role is of interest to you send me your CV so that we can speak in more detail.
