The B+C Central Government team are looking to recruit a Freedom of Information Senior Associate to deal with the day to day FOI Requests for a busy Government department.

Working in the Commission's Legal Directorate, you will be part of the team engaged in ensuring the Commission meets its statutory requirements under the Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. This is a specialist role working alongside the Data Protection Officer, Corporate Lawyer and other Information Governance specialists.

The role holder will primarily handle and respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. In addition, the role holder will also handle Individual Rights Requests and ensure complaints about the Commission are dealt with effectively and in line with procedures and guidance.

-Substantial knowledge and some experience of the statutory and procedural workings of the Freedom of Information Act.
-Strong legal understanding of Freedom of Information
-Recent experience specifically within FOI
-The ability to apply sections of legislation or guidance to real world scenarios
-Availability to start ASAP (The role is working remotely so location is flexible)
-A strong understanding of data protection legislation and at least some experience in data protection.
-BCS/ISEB/IAPP qualifications or equivalent are an advantage.
