Application Support Engineer Contract (Java/SQL. My client a leading global name is urgent need of a talented and experienced Application Support Engineer to join them on a contract basis for 6 months with view for extensions.

You will be required to Provide technical and analytical support for midrange applications in UNIX/AIX environment. Relevant industry experience. Client interfacing various support roles. You Should have strong database support skills (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, etc), strong OS support with Unix, Linux and/or Windows, experience with job scheduling tools, strong scripting knowledge (Examples include Perl, Korn, Shell, etc). A background in supporting Financial systems. Experience supporting the ACI product MTS would be advantageous

My client is looking for someone with good exposure to Unix and SQL, as well as an understanding of Java and JVM's. Candidates do not need to be experts, but at least proficient. Most important skill is the ability to triage and troubleshoot applications to identify and resolve issues within their purview or determine if the issue is network, Database, hardware related…etc and then engage appropriate teams and drive issue resolution.
